JAMIE BURNETT most recently served as the Deputy Campaign Manager for Senator John E. Sununu's 2008 re-election campaign. Prior to the 2008 general election, Mr. Burnett worked as the Political Director for Mitt Romney's Presidential Campaign in New Hampshire's First in the Nation Presidential Primary. He previously served as the Legislative Director for Sen. Sununu in Washington, D.C, and held legislative positions for Sen. Judd Gregg and the National Association of Broadcasters. He is a veteran of several political campaigns.
As a senior legislative aide in the U.S. Senate, Mr. Burnett advised two Senators on an array of policy issues, including financial services, housing, health care, education, labor, pensions, commerce, and small business, as well as the Federal budget and appropriations process, and was chiefly responsible for developing legislative initiatives and strategies across multiple Senate committees and subcommittees. As Legislative Director, Mr. Burnett coordinated Deputy Whip responsibilities with Leadership staff, and advised on all matters related to Senate consideration of bills and amendments, and Senate rules and procedure.
Among Mr. Burnett's many highlights on Capitol Hill, he was personally involved in the writing and introduction of the National Insurance Act of 2006, a comprehensive regulatory reform bill to create an Optional Federal Charter for property/casualty and life insurance which was included in the Treasury Department's 2008 Blueprint for a Modernized Financial Regulatory Structure, and the writing and passage of major Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac reform legislation that was signed into law in 2008. Additionally, he drafted the Medicare Vision Rehabilitation Services Act, which he navigated through Senate passage during the 2003 Medicare Prescription Drug debate, parlaying the legislation into a CMS demonstration project in 5 states. Mr. Burnett also helped craft the New Economy Tax Fairness Act, legislation prohibiting sales taxation on the Internet, and advised the Senate Republican manager, Sen. Gregg, during a six-week floor debate of the landmark No Child Left Behind legislation in 2001.
Prior to his work in Washington, Mr. Burnett attended the University of New Hampshire where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in political science in 1995. He was also awarded Masters Degrees from UNH in public administration and in teaching in 1996 and 1998 respectively.
JAMES SUNUNU has nearly twenty years of business operations experience in publishing, technology, politics and industrial development. Since 2005, Mr. Sununu has been Managing Director of Sununu Enterprises LLC, a business development consulting firm that advises a variety of clients on domestic and international projects and strategic issues. Prior to 2005, Mr. Sununu worked for JHS Associates, Ltd, as a business consultant and as Director of Operations for Connex Technology, a venture capital funded technology start-up developing innovative microprocessor architectures. Mr. Sununu, who also serves as Director of Operations and CFO of Profile Strategy Group, has worked with clients in industries including telecommunications, electronic content delivery, data integration, petrochemicals, manufacturing, and groundwater development.
Mr. Sununu is a veteran of more than half a dozen political campaigns, including congressional and gubernatorial elections, and the First in the Nation Presidential Primary. He served as Director of Operations for the Team Sununu Senatorial campaign from 2001-2002, and has managed communications and federal reporting functions for Team Sununu for nearly ten years. He has also held positions with Lucent Technologies and several small technology businesses.
Mr. Sununu is currently a Director of Optima Bank & Trust Company, and serves on the advisory group of the Old Man of the Mountain Legacy Fund. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Stanford University.
MICHAEL SUNUNU has worked since 1999 with JHS Associates and Sununu Enterprises LLC, a strategic consulting group based in New Hampshire and Washington, DC. The companies specialize in planning and project development for small to medium sized firms. Mr. Sununu's work focuses on planning and business development for a variety of companies and industries. His work has included projects with telecommunications companies, public safety systems, an international water development program, a high-tech imaging company, and several other technology companies. He is a current director of BW Realty Advisors, a real estate financing company in Washington, DC and of Optima Bank & Trust in Portsmouth, NH.
Mr. Sununu has previously worked on Capitol Hill for several members of Congress as legislative director and ran the research division for the Republican Party's Congressional Committee.
Mr. Sununu is currently a Trustee for the New Hampshire Historical Society (Finance Chairman and Treasurer). He received his B.S. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1990 and his MBA from The Kellogg School at Northwestern University in 1999 with a concentration in Finance and Accounting.
